The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Engineer Mining in Mine Technical Services department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site and Ulaanbaatar office 50/50 bases.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide engineering services and support on mining activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team’s objectives and targeted plan.
What the role entails
- Comply with existing safety legislation and is in full compliance with applicable HSE standards and Regular safety interactions.
- Provide daily/weekly mine plan to guide mine operation group on daily and weekly basis on tons and grade, this should follow the forecast strategy for the year.
- Collate and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reporting and equipment planning and performance reconciliation
- Updating the interim phase/stockpile/dump design based on the latest approved recommendation.
- Addresses mine planning objectives, assumptions, needs, and results working within a team based setting in the open pit mine planning group and communicating across various mine groups such as geology, geotechnical, mine operations, mine maintenance, processing concentrator, and business development.
- Prepares and communicates mine planning results to key stake holders through the business unit following company standar procedures for the yearly budgeting and quarterly forecasting process. Format the communication across upstream and downstream stake holders according to OT procedures.
- Provides detailed documentation of the work performed. These documents will be used for reference within the group and for communication outside the mine planning group.
- Identifies any potential difference to the implementation of mine plans and to the alignment of the mine plans with company long term sustainable roles. Therefore, potential risks at various levels of mine design, mine planning, and short-range implementation for operations will be addressed before.
- Related duties to coordinate open pit mine construction plans, support implementation of phase development, support and provide feeback on the implementation of mine planning systems and tools.
What you will need for this role
- Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering
- At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training
- Have oral and written English skills.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office applications is an advantage.
