The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Engineer Hoisting in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Underground Fixed Plant Maintenance department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with the roster of 7 days on and 7 days off.
Reporting to the UG Fixed Plant Maintenance Engineering team’s Senior Engineer Hoisting, ensures the Maintenance and Operation of the hoisting plant is complying to the Mongolian regulations as well as Rio Tinto standards. In addition, the hoisting engineer shall support the maintenance department on increasing the availability and reliability of the plant, and provide expertise to the crews on troubleshooting, fault findings of complex issues and recover from breakdowns.
What the role entails
- Assist in developing a safety culture whilst ensuring that all work undertaken in areas of responsibility comply with existing safety legislation and is in full compliance with applicable HSE standards.
- The Hoisting Engineer is responsible for the statutory compliance of shafts hoists and winches.
- Supporting the Hoisting Plan to ensure compliance with Ontario and Mongolian Regulations
- Ensuring Hoist Passports and log books are managed and kept up to date
- Managing and supports to document and generate reports and drawings for the hoisting equipment upgrades and changes and communicate as appropriate
- Formalizing and maintaining the document management of hoisting activities
- Providing structural engineering support to the underground project
- Support contracts with Hoisting OEM’s and offshore engineering support
- Supporting the planning team in developing best practice maintenance plans for the Hoists and Winches
- Provides project engineering support for maintenance shutdowns and turnarounds
- In conjunction with Supervisors and planning team, develop and maintain task instructions that facilitate safe work execution.
- Support the Maintenance team by leading RCA sessions to improve availabilities
- Initiate, develop and maintain effective and sustainable relationships with all relevant stakeholders
- Support the development of the Underground Maintenance capital and zero based budgets
What you will need for this role
- Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
- Engineering or Mining related disciplines
- At least 2 years relevant work experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and following prescribed safe work practices
- Microsoft Excel and Office program suite skills
- Excellent communications skills and work effectively in a team environment
- Proficiency in English upper intermediate level
