The opportunity
We are looking for One (1) Engineer Fire Protection System in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Site Infrastructure and Services Department based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off.
Purpose of this role is the Fire Protection System Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of fire protection systems within the OT Mine Site. This includes developing and implementing robust QA/QC processes, comprehensive asset integrity inspections, and effective mitigation strategies against environmental impacts. The role involves regular maintenance and coordination of fire safety systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and improving operational efficiency.
What the role entails:
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to fire technicians, including peers, colleagues, and the broader team, facilitating knowledge transfer and rapid growth.
- Evaluate and enhance QA/QC procedures for fire extinguisher manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (ISO, NFPA) for fire protection systems equipment.
- Develop and implement a detailed inspection program tailored to different types of fire extinguishers.
- Establish and communicate Standard Work Procedures (SWPs) for various fire protection system (Active and Passive) service and all kind of fire extinguisher categories.
- Ensure regular inspections and timely corrective actions based on established criteria.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve insulation and heating systems for fire water lines.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety procedures, enhancing procedural standardization.
- Develop and execute inspection and maintenance plans for the fire system in accordance with NFPA standards (NFPA 24, NFPA 25).
- Review and update the interlock matrix with plant engineers to ensure proper coordination of fire safety systems.
- Provide technical expertise to external service providers unfamiliar with the plant’s operation systems and new technologies.
- Ensure that all fire safety systems are properly integrated and functioning as intended.
What you will need for this role
- Bachelor or higher degree in Software engineer, Automation Engineer or a relevant discipline.
- Strong knowledge of international fire safety standards (ISO, NFPA).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire safety engineering, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
- Subject matter expert (SME) in fire protection systems maintenance and operation
- Fluent written and speaking skills in English – Upper intermediate
- Strong ability in Microsoft Office programs with an ability to produce high-quality documents using (in particular) Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
