The opportunity

We are looking for One (1) Engineer Compliance in Oyu Tolgoi LLCUnderground Technical Services departments based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off. This role is 1-years fixed term contract.

The purpose of this role is to prepare the Annual Mine plan, Annual reports, Emergency response plan and other documents for the government and get approvals on time.

What the role entails:

  • Prepare Underground Annual mine plans, Emergency Response plan and reports for the government agencies and get approval on time
  • Support the other stakeholders in preparing plan and report for the government agencies
  • Respond to technical questions from government agencies and liaise with other stakeholders as required.
  • Support & coach direct reports on career development through Rio Tinto’s established processes
  • Update guideline documentation to enable the accurate and efficient completion of Mine Plan and Reports.
  • Regular underground inspections of mining activities and accountable work areas to provide visible leadership in the field.
  • Assist and manage improvement projects within the scope of the mining team.
  • Generate, in conjunction with contractors’ work method statements, JHA’s and Risk assessments to mitigate risks associated with interactions with other stakeholders.
  • Develop & improve written procedures and documentation to allow effective department function.
  • Respond to technical questions from other departments and liaise with development, production, and construction teams.
  • Daily function of the compliance team
  • Assist and manage improvement projects within the scope of the planning team

What you will need for this role

  • Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
  • Engineering or Mining or relevant discipline.
  • At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
  • Advanced skills in mine scheduling and 3D softwares such as AutoCAD, Vulcan, Surpac, Deswik or similar;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Office suite
  • Developed English language verbal and written skills will be well regarded.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and communication skills
