The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Civil Engineer in Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Underground EL and HL Construction department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster of 14 days on and 14 days off
The purpose of this role is to provide civil, structural engineering deliverables for Underground Construction and Mining operations.
What the role entails
- Provide technical support to Construction, Project control, Procurement, and other mining stakeholders.
- Prepare engineering related documentation, initiate improvement on workflow and process.
- Prepare engineering design, shop drawing, MTO in accordance with OT specification and building codes, best practice.
- Prepare survey instruction for surveyors to support design and construction. Coordinate with Mining survey teams for control points.
- Perform detailed engineering review and assessment on structural integrity of design and prepare reports.
- Respond Contractor’s Technical query and RFI and provide technical solution for field engineering issues.
- Evaluate and compile survey measurement result and conduct mechanical envelop and mine excavation tight check process.
- Liaise with Package engineers on providing technical support and developing construction material specification for procurement packages and participate bid evaluation process to attain successful material procurement.
- Initiate implementation of OT Management of change process for engineering changes and deliverables.
- Participate routine construction walkdown, inspect field installation and contractors work area to ensure work performed as per OT safety requirement.
- Participate in design and construction risk assessments processes to ensure that planned work meets engineering and safety requirement.
- Liaises with the project QA/QC teams to ensure that all Government and Authorities requirements are satisfied.
- Identifies changes in engineering and construction methodology that significantly improves execution outcomes.
- Provide technical support to discipline engineers, Construction, Project control and other mining stakeholders.
- Assist in development of the Engineers technical, soft skills through in the field coaching and on job training.
- Reviews Engineering related documentation for adequacy and completeness and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
What you will need for this role
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Civil engineering throughout the construction project or design consulting firm and a record of executing work safely.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills and leading a team effectively.
- Excellent personal time management and attitude – Positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges.
