The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Blaster in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Surface operations – Mine Operations Department based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off.
The purpose of this role is to operate and maintains drills equipment within the functional unit in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team’s objectives and targeted plan.

- Follow the culture of continuous improvement in drilling and blasting operations.
- Work in compliance with high operational standards, always setting an example for others. Maintain a positive and friendly attitude at all times.
- Understand, follow, and implement all relevant standards and procedures.
- Adhere to Oyu Tolgoi LLC’s Health and Safety regulations, meeting expected standards of conduct and behavior.
- Execute work safely in compliance with Mongolia’s Explosives Safety Regulations and safety policies and standards.
- Under the direct supervision of the Blasting Team Lead, charge blast holes with explosives and carry out blasting activities safely.
- Operate auxiliary equipment related to drilling and blasting operations (stemming machine, medium-sized vehicles, loader–WA250, personnel transport Kamaz, etc.).
- Continuously improve the practice, operations, and efficiency of drilling and blasting activities.
- Contribute to the Open Pit Mining Department’s operations through effective communication, collaboration, and professional conduct.
What you will need for this role
- Must have completed secondary education or an equivalent qualification through a vocational school or training center program (e.g., on-the-job training programs) and obtained a diploma or certificate.
- Must hold a valid Mongolian heavy machinery driver’s license (Category B, C).
- Possessing a unified blasting license or a permit to handle explosives is an advantage.
- Having experience with electronic blasting and a certificate in electronic blasting is an advantage.
- Must have a good understanding of open-pit mining operations.
- Experience working in an open-pit blasting team is an advantage.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in the open-pit mining industry.
