The opportunity
We are looking for One (1) Analyst, Commercial in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Finance and Commerce Department based Ulaanbaatar Office with roster of 5 days on and 2 days off.
Analyst, Commercial to support strategic and commercial development initiatives, with a focus on power and renewable energy projects. This role will be instrumental in managing the commercial aspects of OT’s power operations, evaluating projects, supporting negotiations, and contributing to the development and implementation of OT’s power strategy.
What the role entails:
- Uphold OT’s core values of safety, integrity, and respect in all work activities.
- Support power development initiatives through commercial analysis, strategy formulation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist in refining OT’s power development strategy and prepare internal/external presentations and reports.
- Evaluate power development projects including financial modeling and feasibility analysis.
- Manage commercial aspects of power contracts and assist with negotiations and capital planning.
- Provide economic and business analysis on investment proposals, capital expenditures, and operating costs.
- Maintain and develop analytical tools and databases for commercial reporting and decision-making.
- Contribute to internal reporting, project reviews, and lessons-learned exercises.
- Collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, consultants, and contractors to align on power development.
- Conduct risk assessments and support the development of mitigation strategies.
- Analyze data to identify trends and provide insights to support strategic decisions.
- Ensure alignment of power project requirements with broader business objectives.
- Support broader commercial initiatives including contract management, de-risking, and stakeholder relationship building.
What you will need for this role
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in financial or commercial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Skill & Competences:
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex data and present clear, actionable insights.
- Solid understanding of commercial and business operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work cross-functionally.
- Familiarity with Mongolia’s power sector, regulations, and energy trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Fluent in both Mongolian and English, written and spoken.
- Demonstrated adaptability, learning mindset, and ability to perform in a dynamic environment.
