The opportunity

We are looking for One (1)  Analyst Budget control E&I maintenance in Oyu Tolgoi LLCUnderground Electrical and Instrumentation Department based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 7 days on and 7 days off.

The primary responsibility of the Analyst, Budget Control, is to provide leadership in managing the budget for the E&I department. This position is accountable for the development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of the maintenance budget, considering overhead costs and utilizing a zero-based budgeting approach.

What the role entails:

  • Collaborate with Senior Maintenance Planners to create and manage annual budgets for electrical maintenance projects.
  • Develop cost forecasts based on historical data, scope of work, and project timelines.
  • Regularly review and update budget projections in response to project changes and external factors.
  • Track actual expenditures against budgeted amounts and prepare variance reports.
  • Analyse cost overruns and identify root causes, providing actionable recommendations for corrective measures.
  • Continuously monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety
  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports on cost performance for management and key stakeholders.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual updates on the financial status of electrical maintenance projects.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date documentation on all financial transactions and cost-related records.
  • Track and manage costs for materials, equipment, and outsourced services.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement in electrical maintenance operations.
  • Recommend strategies to optimize resource allocation and reduce unnecessary expenditures.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure financial goals align with operational objectives.
  • Communicate financial performance insights to senior management, providing recommendations to improve profitability.

What you will need for this role

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field Bachelor in engineering or equivalent education obtained through degrees, certificates or diplomas from colleges or universities
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) are a plus.
  • Experience with project management software is a bonus
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in budget analysis, cost analysis, or financial planning, preferably in a technical or industrial environment.
  • Strong ability in Microsoft Office programs with an ability to produce high-quality documents using (in particular) Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
