The opportunity

We are looking for One (1) Advisor Occupational Health in Oyu Tolgoi LLCHSESC – Health Safety Environment and Communities Management Systems Department based Ulaanbaatar Office with 5 days on and 2 days off.

The purpose of this role is to effectively implement the company’s medical surveillance program, occupational diseases, injury and illness management model, and support and advise on activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures, includes the Oyu Tolgoi health and medical monitoring procedure, to achieve the team’s objectives and targeted plan.

What the role entails:

  • Responsible for supporting oversight of periodic medical surveillance processes and occupational related conditions that may impact fitness for work and employee health & safety identified during medical surveillanc.
  • To review fitness recommendations from pre-employment and periodic medical assessments of Oyu Tolgoi medical surveillance.
  • To investigate potential threshold shifts in audiometry and spirometry, and occupational-related illnesses.
  • Conduct occupational health (OH) analysis, comparing current year audiometry and spirometry results with previous years.
  • Review cases and complete case summary files including ensuring data is packaged correctly and presented to the National Occupational Health Center in accordance with national regulations for relevant suspected occupational disease cases.
  • Provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders Escalate suspicious OH cases, recommending further steps and specialized evaluations.
  • Provides support in implementation of health & safety procedures, initiatives, processes; arrangement of meetings, appointments & communications (e.g. the occupational diseases, injury & illness management consultative committee, interview, accompany with employee to doctor) coordination of document handles processing.
  • Coordinates health audits, address hazards, communicate occupational health obligations, plans & performances to relevant stakeholders efficiently.
  • Develops & implements case relevant Return to Work Plan (“RTW Plan”) in consultation with the treating medical practitioners, injured employee, shift manager & other relevant stakeholders in required timeframe.
  • Assist in coordinating the return-to-work process which involves vetting medical clearances, performing workplace assessments, and determining if work restrictions can be accommodated.
  • Monitors the employee’s performance against the medical condition and RTW Plan & takes required measurement.
  • Ensures confidentiality in line with the company guidelines & accords to legislation & Oyu Tolgoi Guidelines.

What you will need for this role

  • Postgraduate or equivalent education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
  • Medical Doctor qualification – Mongolian or International
  • Occupational health qualification is an advantage
  • At least 5 years of working as a medical doctor and experience in the field of occupational health. Experience with client service responsibilities.
