Meet B.Bat-Onolt, Senior Metallurgist Auxiliary from the Concentrator plant. As a result of his leadership, management and teamwork skills, Oyu Tolgoi has successfully increased the amount of water it recovers. By improving the technology used to increase water efficiency, conditions have been created for production that is both environmentally friendly and cost effective.

He joined Oyu Tolgoi at the height of construction in 2012 and was recently selected by the workforce as one of Oyu Tolgoi’s employees of the year for 2013. He says: "My selection as one of the best employees is a result of teamwork. I only won this award because of the joint efforts of our entire team. Obviously, our company, which has now completed the transition from a construction project to an operating mine, needs initiatives and skills from our engineers.

This way we can apply our skills to find the most efficient and low cost ways to do business. I believe that the key to a sustainable business is being as cost efficient as possible. That’s why I will do my best to apply all of my knowledge and skills to ensure sustainable operations for our company."
