Supply of Controlled Source Audio-Frequency Magnetotellurics (CSAMT) Surveying Service

Oyu Tolgoi” LLC (the ‘Company’) would like to invite potential and/or experienced suppliers to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) in relation to Supply of  Controlled Source Audio-frequency Magnetotellurics  (CSAMT) Surveying Service

[An EOI is only a preliminary step to a formal tender process to understand and identify whether there are potential suppliers in the market that are interested in and capable of satisfying the procurement needs]

“Oyu Tolgoi” LLC is seeking a highly qualified and experienced contractor to conduct Controlled Source Audio-frequency Magnetotellurics (CSAMT) survey within our designated areas. Our company is dedicated to advance exploration projects by implementing advanced geophysical exploration techniques for accurately delineating prospective resistivity anomalies and geological structures in depths.

Scope description:

  1. Objectives

The primary objectives of CSAMT survey are to, but not limited:

  • Delineate prospective resistivity anomalies that may associated to alteration or mineralization zones with a specific focus on identifying copper sulfide ores at significant depths reaching up to 1000m at least
  • Accurately characterize geological structures that may control mineralization in depth, especially in the concealed areas
  • Integrate CSAMT survey data with existing geological and geophysical datasets to enhance accuracy of geological interpretations
  1. Scope of Work

The planned CSAMT survey will encompass two discrete areas involving a total of 3,142 survey stations (equivalent to 155 line/kilometers in total) on a grid of 50m x 400m.

The selected service provider will be responsible for re-optimization of survey design, field data acquisition, data processing and reporting.

  1. Deliverables

The deliverables will include, but not limited to:

  • Provisioning of all raw data acquired in the field, inclusive of electric and magnetic field measurements, GPS data and others (as described before)
  • Processed resistivity data presented in 2D resistivity sections by each survey line
  • Fence diagrams showing 2D cross sections of the resistivity results in a spatially relevant 3D context
  • Processed 2D resistivity maps which are plan-view plots at different levels of elevationTechnical report as described before
  1. Contractor Requirements

We are seeking contractors with:

  • Experience in conducting CSAMT surveys and other similar geophysical methods such as Controlled-source Electromagnetics (CSEM) with a focus on porphyry copper exploration, or an inclusion of internal/external Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the project team
  • A team with qualified and experienced geophysicists in geophysical field data acquisition ensuring industrial safety standards
  • Capability to integrate CSAMT survey results with other geophysical and geological datasets to enhance the survey results
  • Track record of delivering high-quality, detailed reports, maps, sections and other products
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment and software for geophysical surveys
  1. Additional Requirements/ Specifications
  • Field data acquisition must be performed using appropriate instruments that meet the industrial safety standards
  • The survey design should be ensured appropriate lateral and vertical resolutions and appropriate for mapping concealed geological structures and defining resistivity contrasts within depths of 1000m at least
