5 year anniversary of Creating Value for Our Country

This month marks the 5th year anniversary of First shipment of copper concentrate from Oyu Tolgoi.

Thirty one years after geologist D.Garamjav visited the area to study strange formations and anomalies which had been identified by an aerial survey, and 12 years after the scale of potential was first identified, Oyu Tolgoi, the working mine was born. But 9 July 2013 marked the beginning of a new age of history. From an extraordinary construction project, to a working copper business, Oyu Tolgoi is fast becoming one of the world’s greatest copper mines.
On that day, a convoy of 16 trucks loaded with 576 tonnes of copper concentrate labelled “Product of Mongolia” left for the Mongolia – Chinese border, marks the start of export shipping from Oyu Tolgoi.
